She hears the TARDIS again and turns to see it rematerialise. She takes a deep breath and backs away as the TARDIS dematerialises. The Doctor enters the TARDIS leaving Martha standing beside it looking near to tears. with the push of a single button, I will change what it means to be human. LAZARUS: Tonight, I will demonstrate a device.įRANCINE: She's got a new job. On the TV screen we see Prof Lazarus, who looks to be in his late 70s, holding a press conference. MARTHA: How could Tish end up on the news? Martha picks up the remote control and turns on the TV. I was only calling to say that your sister's on TV. The machine beeps before Francine's message.įRANCINE: Martha, are you there? Pick it up, will you?įRANCINE: All right then, pretend that you're out if you like. Martha's phone rings and the answering machine picks up.ĪNSWERING MACHINE: Hi! I'm out! Leave a message! THE DOCTOR (inhales deeply): Yeah, I should probably. THE DOCTOR: So, back were you were, as promised. Martha snags the offending lingerie from his fingertips. Books, Cds, (picks up underwear drying on a rack) laundry. ![]() THE DOCTOR: Yep, all in one night, relatively speaking. MARTHA: But all the stuff we've done: Shakespeare, New New York, old New York? ![]() The Doctor begins looking about at her photos. THE DOCTOR: In fact, the morning after we left, so you've only been gone about 12 hours. He nods and she goes outside only to be disappointed in the destination. Martha looks at him, questioning if she should open the doors. MARTHA: You should be used to tight spots by now. perfect landing, which isn't easy in such a tight spot. Unless he was using some kind of hypnosis, wouldn’t anyone be more likely to take the word of their daughter over a complete stranger?.Since such rumours are prevalent, he is probably merely the Master’s underling. In other news, we finally get to see Harold Saxon, a man who is rumoured to be connected to the Master, if not the Master himself. I guess it’s the price we continue to pay for having everything wrapped up within 45 minutes. I felt the potential of the story was wasted by rushing it too much- think of how much better it would have been if we’d seen Lazarus gradually transform, each time having attacks that left him slightly less human. I was looking forward to this episode, but whilst in terms of simple Saturday evening entertainment it wasn’t bad, I still couldn’t be satisfied with it. In another time and space, humanity may well have evolved into these hideous scorpion-like beasts. Lazarus mutant: Once again, not technically an alien, but an alternate form created when Lazarus’ dormant DNA is activated.It seems like the elixir of life that so many have searched for, but as the Doctor is well aware, such things are usually too good to be true… With the help of Martha’s sister, the pair gain entry to a party where Professor Richard Lazarus, aged 75, shows off the results of his research by stepping into a machine that rejuvenates his body to that of a young and healthy man. With Martha’s trip on the Tardis having finally come to an end, the Doctor drops her off in her living room the morning after they left- only to come right back when he sees an intriguing nugget of information on TV.
